(DUNNOTTAR CASTLE  and ARBROATH ABBEY are nearby, as is GLAMIS CASTLE and many other National Trust and Historic Scotland properties.

The town of BRECHIN (15 mins away) is worth a visit to it’s Cathedral and weekend trips on the Caledonian Steam Railway ( that runs between Brechin and Dun )  The Aberlemno Pictish standing stones nearby.

ARBROATH (only 20 mins away) along with Abbey has a lovely harbour and famous for its Abroath 'Smokies'.

Also EDZELL  village and Castle and Glen Esk with The Retreat museum, shop and café.

The pretty Angus town of KIRRIEMUIR is the birth place of J.M.Barrie-author of Peter Pan.

The ANGUS GLENS are ideal for Fishing and Riding and a Bird Watchers and Hill Walkers paradise.

Scott’s Antarctic ship is just one of the many things to see and do in DUNDEE  just 45 minutes away.If you are visiting from the 15th of September this year the new V&A Museum will be open for you to visit.

ST.ANDREWS  just over the Tay bridge from Dundee is 1 hour away.

ABERDEEN  is also  one hour away as is  ROYAL DEESIDE  with lovely countryside and many  castles including Crathes with it's beautiful gardens.

Or why not have a day trip away to EDINBURGH or STIRLING which are no more than two hours drive away. Likewise you also have the advantage of hopping on the train if you wish.
